The Virginia Beach County jail roster is not a universal criminal-record database. It is tied to VBCC custody and recent or released jail records that the system makes searchable. Virginia Beach County Inmate Profile Fields
A VBCC inmate profile can be dense. It may carry identity fields, physical descriptors, local and outside identifiers, housing fields, a projected release date warning, detainers, bond entries, charges, aliases, and hearing information. Results can also show a release date, so a search may return both people still in custody and people who have left jail.

Booking Process in Virginia Beach County
VBSO and city sources describe intake as a structured custody process. Arrestees are brought to VBCC, searched for weapons and contraband, fingerprinted, photographed, entered into jail records, and screened by Medical and Classification before housing. Personal property is inventoried, a property voucher is issued, and an identification card is issued for jail privileges. If a person cannot make bond, a Classification Deputy interviews the inmate and creates a housing assignment.
The rulebook states that a person who cannot make bond is arraigned on the first day of court following incarceration. Virginia Beach arraignments may occur by closed-circuit video. Intake holding cells have phones, and the rulebook says inmates have the chance to complete one free five-minute call, with more calls possible unless there is a problem.

Mail to a VBCC inmate must include the inmate name and OMS number and use the jail mail address format published by VBSO. Incoming and outgoing mail is inspected, legal mail is opened in the inmate's presence, and unauthorized packages or prohibited content can be refused. Money orders, cashier checks, kiosk deposits, CareMart packages, GTL/ConnectNetwork services, and phone accounts all have separate rules.
